FAMILY RIODINIDAE
Grote, 1895

A family of some 1,300 species, more than 90%
of which occur in the Neotropical Region. All 100 or so
species found in the Old World tropics (Oriental and
Afrotropical Regions) are placed in the subfamily
Nemeobiinae.
There are only 15 species in the Afrotropics, in two genera,
Abisara (on the mainland) and Saribia (on Madagascar).
